Attending the Sand Sports Super Show in Costa Mesa, Ca is a must-do for every avid sand dune enthusiast. This years show was the 15th annual and the 10th in a row for me. The Sand Show, as most call it, is an opportunity for 100’s of exhibitors and vendors to debut their new Sand Toys, RV’s, Toy Haulers, Trucks, Parts, and Accessories to the general public. It’s also a great time for fellow duners to meet, greet, and plan future adventures.  In addition, this year the show teamed up with SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks to host rounds 11, 12, and 13 of the SST® racing series featuring top off road racer Robby Gordon. The racing held at the adjacent Orange County Fairgrounds event center was well attended and also featured truck jumping, cart racing, and UTV racing as well.

The racing was a nice touch, but the main attraction of the show would have to be all the new Sand Toys that builders show off to potential buyers. In years past, high end Sand Cars dominated the show but in recent years the UTV led by Polaris, Can-Am, and Arctic Cat seems to have taken over.

The Sand Show is also a big venue for new RV’s and Toy Haulers with dealers such as Carson Trailer, Giant RV, Mike Thompson, and Richardson’s showing dozens of new models. Here are some of the highlights.
