I spent the weekend in Reno at the 1st annual Off Road Motorsports Expo. The expo was piggy backed on top of the 44th annual Outdoor Sports & Recreation show and the 36th annual Spring Home, Garden & Pet show allowing visitors the opportunity to attend 3 shows for the price of one.
The crowd favorite at the event had to be watching 2-Time World Motorcycle Trials Champion Tommi Ahvala taking on a fabricated obstacle course. Using a specialized light weight Trials motorcycle, Tommi skillfully jumped, wheelied, and hopped up and over ramps and even volunteer spectators without touching his feet to the ground.
But looking at all the vehicles, toys and gear is why I really come to these events and here were some of my favorites;
Street to Sand Off-Road had some really nice trucks, cars, and plenty of toys on hand to drool over. STS Off-Road is Northern Nevada’s largest Off-Road center specializing in on and off road performance products and suspensions. Their motto is: “If you can dream, we can build it.”
Daystar is a manufacturer of precision plastic components for the off road vehicle industry. Products include polyurethane components found in suspension systems, leveling kits, super shackles, dash & switch panels, shock boots, and bump stops.
Pipemaster tools are used by welders to measure and mark the contour involved in joining tubes together at various angles.
Master Pull showed all their top quality recovery gear, winch ropes, hardware, and accessories.
GenRight Off Road , the official suspension for the Griffin King of the Hammers and Ultra4 racing series. is your headquarters for everything Jeep. From body armor, skid plates, gas tanks, bumpers, tire carriers, suspension, and more.
Pro Tech RV Services from Carson City was on hand showing some cool products like this 12 volt swamp cooler by Turbo Cool, Curt’s 20k Q5 sliding hitch, Aims Power Inverters, Kyocera Solar Products, and Trojan Batteries.
Reno Cycles & Gear had dozens of UTV’s, ATV’s, Motorcycles, Snow Mobiles & Accessories on site to check out.
Blue Ribbon Coalition ambassador and land use advocate Del Albright was also on site signing up new members and spreading the word about access issues to our public lands
Overall I think the show was a success and I hope will return next year with more vendors. Here are some more photos.
