California license plates may go digital?

I saw this on RV Daily Report and it made me wonder if it was a good idea or bad.  I will wait until I find out more information before I go on a rant. What do you think about using your car or truck for advertising?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow the state to research using electronic license plates for vehicles.

The device would display standard license plate information when the vehicle is moving, but would switch to digital messages, like advertisements, when the car or RV is stopped for more than four seconds in traffic or at a red light, NBC News reported.

In emergencies, the plates could also be used to broadcast Amber Alerts or traffic information, the bill’s author explained. He also believes license-plate advertising could generate revenue to offset a $19 billion deficit.

The author of SB1453 says California would be the first state to implement such technology if it decides to adopt the plates on a large scale.

Supporters say license-plate advertising could generate much-needed revenue in a state facing a $19 billion deficit.

The state can kiss my butt. I don’t want them making any more money from me then they already do. Now, if they want to talk about MY SHARE of the profit, then maybe we can deal. That is as long as I have a say in the advertising…no lawyer or douch ads please….

Why is it ok for the state to regulate cell phones, when and where we can talk or text (driving) but they want to provide another distraction? AH…it provides money – then it is ok!!

I would not vote for this, given the chance.

Thats a bunch of BS. It is a stupid idea. Spend more of my money for then to advertise. We all pay enough taxes dont need more. They should be working on getting rid of stupid stuff like this to make our deficit lower.
