Oceano Dunes – Today through April 20, California State Parks will be accepting proposals
for two separate concession contracts at Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. One
contract is for the operation of a Hummer or OHV Tours Service and the second contract is for a
Towing Service. Both contracts include a five (5) year term with the option to extend an additional
five (5) years.
The park is located in southwestern San Luis Obispo County, California and encompasses
3,854 acres of land west of U.S. Highway 1, between Oceano and Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes
National Wildlife Refuge.
Proposals are due by 2:00 p.m. on April 20 to the Department of Parks and Recreation, 1416
9th Street, Room 1442-13, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Interested parties are required to attend a mandatory pre-proposal meeting at the Ramona
Garden Park Center, 933 Ramona Avenue, Grover Beach, CA on Wednesday, March 3, at 6:00 p.m.
There will be an optional tour of the premises at Oceano Dunes SVRA offered at 9:00 a.m. on March

During fiscal year 2008/2009, the current tour concession operator reported $60,400 in gross
sales, and the current towing concession operator reported $113,775 in gross sales. These RFPs are
being pursued in compliance with state law that requires a competitive bid process open to all parties
for concession operations.
